125 Years on the farm De Vlei

The 21st of September was the 125th anniversary of the Viljoen family on the farm De Vlei in the Hexriver Valley.
Gawie Viljoen took ownership of the piece of land in 1897 and called it “De Vlei”.

This special event was celebrated with a Viljoen family reunion and spit braai on the 18th of September.

Waitrose Foundation & Exsa visits our After School Care Centre

Waitrose Foundation, Exsa and De Vlei Boerdery all contributed to our After School Care Centre, Miershoop.
We have just over 60 children between Grades R and 7.  They are being helped with homework in the afternoons and also get to use the CAMI program on laptops.  Waitrose Foundation was given an overview of our business and also the social projects we are involved with.  They were shown how a packhouse operates and were also given a grape tasting before visiting Miershoop.  Miershoop is an ant hill and is made up of the Afrikaans words ANTS and HOPE.  Builders of our future, and hope for our future.

First Snow!

We had a lot of very welcome rain and our first snow on the mountains.  The children have never seen snow before so we decided to take them to it.  Most of it had melted away by the time we got there, but this did not prevent them from having a lot of fun!!
